Old Warden AFCAD

Post by T6flyer »

I'm trying to populate my virtual skies with my own Traffic using the Traffic 2005 program and so far have been quite successful in having vintage GA, military and airliners going here and there.

Have a slight problem with Old Warden as it doesnt seem to be included within FS2004 or indeed Gary Summon's Airfields Part 5. Does anyone know where I can get an AFCAD file for Old Warden as would like a virtual home to the majority of my British built light aircraft?

Many thanks,

Martin

Hi Martin

Old Warden IS part of UK2000 Part5 but is a devil to find from the menu  The associated bgl is contained within the Part5 Scenery folder under the filename OLDW.bgl ;-)

Thanks Dave,

I have no major understanding of how anything actually does work in the sim, but just would like to know if it is at all possible to add traffic to this airfield (perhaps I should have said that although the airfield is in the package, there isnt any traffic there). Been there quite a few times in real life, once with the Sea Hurricane trying to formate on our Super Cub (failed badly even with undercarriage down....and I didnt have a camera) and other times on formation Chippie flights.

Just cant see how FS2004 has failed to include it in its list of airfields. A little weird if you ask me, when it is such a historic place.

Best wishes,

Martin

Hi Martin :)

OK ;-)
Old Warden can be found from the main menu in flightsim so you will be able to add traffic to it. Airport name is Shuttleworth.. ICAO is EG59 and the Town/City is Old Warden. AFCAD lists the following detail..
N52 05.2625' W0 19.1136'.. Alt 110ft.. Magvar -4.0.

Garry Summons didn't see fit to include it in the default (his default) traffic.bgl for part 5 so I doubt very much if it's included in any of the other parts but with a rudimentary knowledge of AFCAD and TTools (only TTools really) you can get traffic going into and out of there ;-) I've no experience of Traffic 2005 but I can't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to get it to see Old Warden given the info above. If you know how to use TTools.. you can use Gary's default traffic file for that area but you must add Old Warden to the list of airports first. Alternatively, you can make your own traffic.bgl using TTools and in the 'Airports' component, add only the airports you want your aircraft to fly to. It sounds complicated to the uninitiated but it's not really :)

EDIT..
Here you go Martin. This took a few mins to setup and Garry Summons default statics need removing but you get the idea. The aircraft chosen are not intended to be accurate.. just representative ;-)

Forgive the BEA FJ Bell being in shot but it's my favourite goofing aircraft
