Wasn't to sure where to post this request, apologies if in wrong thread.
Quite a while ago there was a gentleman who made up a special type afcad parking spot for helos, this enabled the helo to take off and land on the actual spot, so no taxiing to a runway.
I can't recall who this person was, does anyone have any info or his name as I would really like to get hold of it again. It may go as far back as FS2002. I used to have it but can't find it.
Any help is appreciated

Re: Helo afcad parking file
Hi Mate,
I'm pretty sure this can't be done in either FS9 or FSX (even less chance in FSX lol) so it may be something from 2002.

Re: Helo afcad parking file
Hi Seaking -
Tom Gibson, of CalClassic, recently released some very fine helicopter AI for the classic era. The same gentleman also posts in this forum.
I am certain he would be willing to help, if asked. I have learned a lot from the CalClassic forum, and Tom's advice has always been good. His patience seems to be inexhaustable, too - a quality I definitely do not have :-(
This is a link to the old CalClassic forum, where you can read some of the discussion. Search for helicopter AI, and set the range out to about 400 days, and 50 results.

The AI package is described here (the new site):

Hope this helps

Re: Helo afcad parking file
Hi,
I didn't respond to this thread because all of my AI heli's require a taxi to a runway, and they take about 600 ft to get airborne.
They do seem to work OK even if you have changed your AI taxi speed, something others do not.
Take care,

Hi Tom, thanks for posting. I'd used some of your stuff before in FS9 and others from hovercontrol.com, but was pretty sure they can't be made to take of verticly. I think somebody may have done something with a hidden runway and high taxi speed so that it "appeared" that the helos were taking off from a landing area, but from what I recall it was pretty limited.
Ben.

Re: Helo afcad parking file
In the one I had they didn't take off vertically, it was each parking spot was a mini airfiled, the helo would still take off
but it would come into land almost on the parking spot. I'm having a go trying to duplicate this one now, been a while
since I was in FS9 so it's fun.
I'm getting there slow but sure.
