Hi all, :)
landing with an engine sleeping is not a great hobby for a pilot. :-( So i want understand where is my mistake: tonight I have landed my 500 at Manchester hearing the sound of silence of an engine, |-) and entering the taxiway the 2 and last engine was stopped. :$
The client asked me for fueling 1890 kg, more and less, so I have added 300 Kg. The result is explained above... :@
Someone help me? ;-) Thank's in advance! :)

Hi Fran :)

I'll have to take a look at that flight for you. Is the 1890kg what was already onboard so you added 300kg for the flight?? To be honest.. 300kg is what you'd keep for startup to taxi for the hold.. perhaps less than that but this is the sort of distance we're looking at on that amount of fuel :think:

Hi Fran,

The client will always show you how much fuel is already on the aircraft after it's last flight. There was 1891kgs of fuel already onboard which is probably a little under what should have been a desireable fuel state to have landed with. For your fuel planning and deciding how much fuel you want for departure you have to make sure you have the following :-

A + B + C

A = The amount of fuel you expect to consume on your flight
B = 45 minutes of fuel to hold overhead your destination for any reason e.g. bad weather/ATC delays
C = Diversion fuel if you are unable to land at your destination for any reason e.g. bad weather

B + C are your reserves and hopefully will always be unused and stay on the aircraft.

On your flight you used @ 2200 kgs fuel. If you had expected to use that amount when you planned your flight then your departure fuel should have been

A = 2200kgs
B = @ 1500 kgs
C = @ 1000 kgs

A + B + C = 4700kgs

Your fuel purchase should have been approx 2800 kgs

thank you for reply and for info.
I have booked a trip to EDDL, so i will follow A+B+C. ;-)
The client will show me the fuel on board after last flight: for next flight it will be 1891 Kg as wrote in aircraft info page, right? :)

Whilst we are on this subject, this is what I do.

I use a calculator.

Divide the hourly fuel rate by 60. Multiply the result by 75. Add on amount of fuel suggested on route enquiry page forany flights I can slot in for the fuelling, based on cost.

Hi Fran,

Yes the client always shows what fuel is on the aircraft already, as per the aircraft info page. After training flights, the client always sets the fuel back to where it was before the training flight which is why the aircraft still shows 1891kgs. After your training has completed and you are on normal revenue flights, the aircraft fuel will be as you leave it for the next flight/pilot.

Hi Simon,

That should work (45 min hold + 30 min div) most of the time on our routes . The only thing to be wary of is if the diversion is further away than 30 mins in which circumstances it would be prudent to add a bit of fuel for the wife and kids ;-) . We've had these conversations quite a bit recently and it's good to see pilots leaving the aircraft with the reserves onboard intact. The client restrictions on payload/fuel does make things a little bit more thoughtful now that we have to keep to MTOW as well as the MZFW. Tanking becomes a bit more difficult as you need to keep the payload to keep the revenue.
