Echo...

Post by petermcleland »

I had a request for an up to date version of my Echo version of Dave's Hunter FGA9 so I decided to update the Download...Here is my reply text for explanation:-

Here is a revised version which you are the first to have:-

There may have been several changes since your previous but the main and most important change is in the textures. You may know that many people have problems with blurring scenery when using Dave's Hunters...Well this is completely fixed in these revised textures. The textures are mainly DXT3 with no mips, but the few DXT1 textures in there have now been MIPPED and this completely fixes the problems of ground blurring. I have modded all Dave's hunters now and can have an AI version of each of his Hunter Two Seaters all parked at once and with no blurring. I do not use FSX and when I did, I was not impressed with the look of the Hunters but these are really for FS9 so you may need to do other things to them for FSX.

Good luck with your Hunter flying.

Thank you Peter. I've just taken her for a flight from St Mawgan, and it does exactly what it says on the tin.

Passing Newquay, the flight is not paused. I've put the co-ordinates on screen. Very good FPS, and no blurries.

Thanks, Peter. DG's Hunter is the only aircraft I use in FS other than airliners, so it's especially nice to have the updated Echo to enjoy.

Thanks DaveG...I'm careful not to offend and your model is not included (they have to download your package to activate Echo) :)

You are welcome Dennis and thanks for the excellent picture...I'm surprised that you got it to look so good in FSX...Did you have to do anything to the textures to achieve that?

The old girl works pretty well in FSX Peter. Its very much a changed beast since SP2.

Even if FSX were to become completely bug free, I doubt that Peter would swap over anyway. He has put too much time and effort into his FS9 installation to just bin it and start over afresh :)
