Re: Forums down
The Alphasim forum is officially dead, RIP. They are working on getting the gallery up-and-running again.

Re: Forums down
What a surprise. I had a sneaky feeling they would get rid of the forums. To be honest I can only see it hurting sales, I for one always found out about new products from the forums and hardly ever check the main page unless I'm making a purchase.RobDob wrote:The Alphasim forum is officially dead, RIP. Re: Forums down
It will backfire as any complaints will now be fully aired on other forums seen by a wider cross section of the community.

Re: Forums down
I wonder why they've decided not to bother with a new forum. Of course there were problems with the occasional idiot who wouldn't take no for an answer but I think, on the whole the place was rather friendly recently (apart from the odd snide comment about the "Classic British Flight Sim Community" and more importantly it the only place to go to find out about updates to various aircraft since they don't seem to like to publicise patches that only contain bug fixes on the front page.
Re: Forums down
Hopefully they'll find some way of letting the masses know of releases and patches. Fingers crossed...................

From the Alphasim announcment, quote:RobDob wrote:The Alphasim forum is officially dead, RIP. They are working on getting the gallery up-and-running again.
We are confident that a leaner AlphaSim is the way forward and this increased efficiency will result in more and better models and scenery in the coming years.
I fail to see any correlation between no forums and better models, but its their business I suppose. I have to wish them all the best, my grievances with the B-24 notwithstanding. There is an FSX update to the Victor coming, which will be free to existing owners, and I do think thats rather generous of them. Other models, including the Neptune, have been updated for FSX too, so I might have a little spending spree nearer Christmas.

Re: Forums down
I guess they will just have to modify the main website with a Patches and Fixes' section, it may end up being bigger than the forum though
I have not bothered since the 'Great anti British Flight Sim' period when they blamed rivet counters (like me) for the poor sales of some products. Ironically, rivites wrong or whatever, I bought (and was pretty happy with  ) all these products. The AS Scimitar is still one of my favorite FS 9 aircraft, but recent subjects have not been my thing.
