New Monitor

Post by RobDob »

Gents

I'm now fed up with my piddly little 15" TFT and want to upgrade. I fancy something around the 19 - 20" range but without spending my childrens inheritance! Any suggestions would be gratefully received! It would be nice if it could be wall mounted too. I've been trawling various sites but I end up going round in circles!!!

Also, do wide screen monitors work well with FS?

Cheers

Rob

You can get a decent 22" widescreen for around the £200 mark these days. Just make sure your graphics card is up to the job of the crazy native resolutions that comes with large LCD's. Most are either 1680X1050 or 1920x1200 :o

I've got a 22" Samsung T220 and it works a treat with FSX. Some 2d Panels don't like the wide resolution but some developers include widscreen versions. I don't mind since I'm starting to lean towards VC's these days.

My gfx card is an 8800 gts 640mb, hope thats enough. Presumably it's only 2d panels that are affected by widescreen? The other thing that I was curious about is whether I'd notice the difference between 2, 5 or 8ms?

Anything below 8ms is considered good. I can't notice much difference between my old 913N (8ms) and this thing that is 2ms.
Best bet is to check out some reviews on the ones that you are looking at.

You graphics card should be fine. My 512mb 8800gt runs a 20" (1680x1050) and a 17"(1280x1024) at the same time no problem

Hi,

I have a Samsung 226BW (22") and am over the moon with it. My bro-in-law recently bought the Samsung 2232BW (22")and it's a cracking screen. Currys have it on offer at the moment for £170 which I think is not a bad deal - my bro-in law paid £190 a couple of weeks ago.

It says limited availability -reserve and collect at your nearest store so if you are thinking of this particular model, check around for prices and be quick.

Regards

John
