More about the BAC: fuel calculation - how?

At first, I want to thank those people who are responsible for this outstanding freeware. I own a FS9-installation of 65 Gb that mainly consists of payware. Becoming a TrackIR-pilot some time ago, I won`t take a look at any 2D-panel any more. Every plane I fly has to have a well textured VC and acceptable fluid gauges. I am a great fan of vintage aircrafts, but there is not much serious stuff available for FS9. Yes, the Dreamfleet 727, but she has an ugly panel, especially the VC and non-fluid gauges. The F1 Super 80 is not capable of inflight-saving, the Capt. Sim 707 has a nice outside-model, but that`s it, the freeware DC-9 from Stellan Hilmerby is superb (http://www.hilmerby.com), but has no VC at all, the CLS planes are only screenshot-planes like the Capt. Sims and the russian stuff like the PT Tupolev 154 is too much hardcore as I don`t want to learn the russian language...

We had an intensive discussion in Germany`s largest flightsim forum at http://www.flightxpress.de where I posed the question concerning any serious recreations of vintage airliners WITHOUT any up-to-date adaptions like TCAS, GPS, FMC, maybe an INS, but nothing more.

Someone came up with the BAC 1-11, I tried it - and now I love it like my favorite payware aircrafts (PMDG 747 (yes, no vintage plane, but the greatest plane ever build and ever adapted to FS), the Dreamfleet 727, the DA Piper Cheyenne and the DA Dornier 27). The Flight model is great, the VC is incredible. Of course, it has not all the functions the Dreamfleet has, but it has everything that is important to create a fantastic vintage airliner atmosphere. I like the sharp main panel in the VC.

So, why do I write this all? I think, this plane is worth to have a closer look at it. I use FSBuild for flight planning and I use to make fuel calculations for my flights based on charts und performance tables. I like the feature that allows to automaticly calculate V-speeds and take-off power-settings. But how do you calculate the fuel consumption?

If you have links, a fuel planner, manuals or anything that helps to get a bit more out of this great package I would be very grateful!

Your best bets for planning manuals are David Maltby himself or Dave booker - who either owns or has access through his connections at
Brooklands to many manuals -- If your considering doing the 1-11 for FS Build (you will have to make 7 versions for hushed and non hushed
engines -- I would be very interested to anything you have for FSBuild - at present I am using a modified F28-4000 fuel performance file for
the 1-11 which is satisfactory but NOT 100% accurate.

As to flying vintage jets - have you flown DavidM s superb Trident? or the real Queen of the Skies the VC10? also Rick Pipers Viscount 800 if
you enjoy a challenge in systems management

If you like the 1-11 take alook at the other greta planes Rick Piper and Dave Maltby have in their hangers..just to name a couple, the 748 is superb as well as the trident then there is the cOMET 4 ..THE LIST GOES ON AND ON..AND THE ONLY GLASS IN THE COCKPIT....is the windows

Concerning FSBuild:

No, I actually don`t have the time to create those libraries for the BAC. I am happy to find one evening a week for flying. But where do I find that F28-library? Everything that works more or less is better than having nothing. I use the BAC only for short trips so slight differences in fuel consumption would not be a problem.

Of, course, I installed ALL the stuff from that site. But, to be totally honest: The BAC is a class of its own. The comet has a blurry panel, the VC has no VC and the panel layout of the Trident has not the same "Wow"-factor like the BAC. The 748`s gauges are not as fluid as in the BAC and the textures in VC are not as sharp... Yes, all minor complaints as one who is searching for this or that particular aircraft will be very happy with them. I only look for ONE aircraft that suits my taste most - that is the BAC, so far

The Comet does have a full VC..perhaps you don't have the latest version?

Well, actually I have only one mail account and registering at yahoo means that one has to subscribe that he will be bombed by spams and commercial stuff (just read the small written parts...uuahh!). I refused to register, but sent some mails to those persons:

Now I wait for answers. So far, another mod of our german forum told me he would work on fuel charts if everything else failes. Don`t hope so. But if anyone of you knows someone or has any possibilities to scan original papers, please share it with us.

It seems that noone has any ideas nor further material that would help for proper fuel calculations.

They offer a printed manual for the BAC 1-11 for something around 51 US dollars. The dollar is quite weak but it`s still quite expensive on my opinion. Has anyone experiences with manuals of that type? Are they helpful at all? Would a manual contain performance charts? Questions over questions...
