I'm going to show my ignorance -- Was the Harley Light developed from the Leigh Light?

Leif....reading on the net...it appears the "Harley Light" was manufactured by Harley Davidson......It was used on the nose of some Hunters also.... :)

Don't know if you knew that fella..?

Wasn't there (or maybe still is) something similar on one of the Nimrods pod tanks??

Thanks for the link Tony

The Light on the Nimrod sounds more inline with the "leigh" Light carried on Sunderlands and PBYs probably for the same
purpose

As I understand it the point of the Harley light was to give gun aimers a more visible aiming point when practising surface to air gunnery in training. The Hunter had it fitted in the nose while the Hawk just uses the light that's already fitted there, it can still be ridiculously tricky to spot them visually though.
