Flatten command in FSX

Post by Rich »

Another FSX nasty for me is Fs9 flattens are not recognised, I have copied my Ark Royal in Manila bay over to FSX, while the model is ok I am back to the AFCAD drawing land up to deck level as we got with water in Fs9, deactivate the AFCAD and all is ok except no hard deck so unusable, it looks like it is sitting in a volcano with AFCAD on.

Is there a little prog out there that will do flattens in FSX rather than lobby for a FSX hard deck version :brick:

You can use ADE (Aircraft Design Editor, check http://www.fsdeveloper.com/) to set up a flatten around an airport.

Or you could download the moving hard deck version of the Ark (AVSIM I think).

Hi Skippy, The Wyvern was the first thing I downloaded closely followed by your moving Ark managed to land on once.

Been trying to set her up in the Philippines, got as far as making a kml file but the little program you suggested refuses to work for me so stuck for the moment, also got that other prog to flatten, also refuses to compile, I think there may be a problem with the xml format, tags wrong or somesuch, made a polygon as per instructions but it will not compile.

Many Thanks
Rich

Skippy, deep joy, after much messing around I now have your moving Ark parked off Subic bay though not moving this could be time or something.

I managed to get that little prog working and used your bgl as a template and a guide, no time to check on movement at the mo but will get back to it in the morning

Many thanks CHEERS

Hi Rich,

If your using the Ark BGL in FSX it isn't going to move at all. You need the mdl FSX version and then you can plot a route for it in google earth and use the ai boat tool... http://lc0277.nerim.net/boat/ to get it to sail allong the route. :dancer:

Ben, I have both in FSX, bounced off the Gibralter one a couple of times, I have that tool took a while to get it working but I now have Ark off Subic Bay in the Philippines and doing trials etc. I know the Fs9 version will not move, I now have 2 moving Arks in the Philippines one steaming SE from Subic Bay and the other steaming east out of Manila Bay into the South China Sea.
With those the static is not needed but I still want to sort out the flatten problem.
