L-40 Meta Sokol

Post by FlyTexas »

An interesting Czech touring aircraft from the 1950's. Created by Jozef Vrabec and Jozef Košík for use in FS2004 and FSX. Can be downloaded from flightsim.cz.

The markings on the Czech aircraft are, however, current day Slovak :)

The flag on the vertical stabilizer is the current Slovak Republic national emblem
and Bratislava is, of course, the capital of the Slovak Republic....

There are some rather nice instruments and boxes in that screenshot...I particularly like the clock. Don't know what to make of the AH though as it seems to suggest the aircraft is upside down

I had no idea. :$ The model comes with 3 paintschemes but only 1 shows Czech regs and a Czech flag. :dunno:

They most have a lot of air pollution in the Czach Republic. For the life of me I still can't perform an acceptable takeoff or landing. The rear nosegear keeps giving me fits.

Hi Leif

I can only recall seeing G-APUE & G-APVU

Others on the UK registers were G-APWV, G-ARJO, G-ARFF, G-ARSO, G-ARSP & G-ASTT

Does anyone know the reasoning behind the unusual landing gear? I've looked but have yet to find any info which would explain why they designed it that way. :dunno:

Perhaps it was for the level advantages of a tricycle but there was no wheer to mount the retractable unit under the engine without mods......the easy option :dunno:

I wonder though if it touched the single wheel first on landing

The mainwheels protruded slightly in the up to protect it in a wheels up landing :worried:

Leif

G-ARSO/RSP and STT come to mind as the common ones - Kidlington?
