32 bit vs. 64 bit

Post by DanKH »

So am I correct in assuming that almost any 32-bit application will run more or less flawlessly on a 64 bit system?

lol.... that might be overstating it a bit Dan, but very few compatibility problems and I've been running x64 for 18 months. Just check you AV vendour has an x64 version as that can prove problematic for some, and if you use any backup software. Acronis is fine for backup. Is there anything else you run that is a must and I'll try and check it out on my system if you like?

Thank Ben

 No, I knew it, and that's why I asked "almost flawlessly" ;-)

At the moment I'm just preparing, as the Autumn-SALE offers are beginning to pour in now.

For 'bout £1000 I could get a HP Dual Tripple Core, 1 TB HDD, 1/2GB ATI, etc. etc on a Vista 64 OS .... so I'm just fantasising atm. ;-)

I'm sure I'll take your word on your offering at a later point, when I actually have something I wanted you to try out for me.
