Bruno's Mossie

Post by dswanson »

Hi,

I love this plane but it seems to cause a whole system lock on my PC up after a variable amount of flying time. Sometimes I can fly for 30 min or more and other times only a few seconds. Anybody else encounter this ??

After some testing I've concluded it's to do with the .mdl file as I've tried changing the FD, sound + panel sets with other planes with no improvement. I've just flown with the new UKMIL texture (beta release) and the lock up came again. I've heard of the term "memory leak" applied to this sort of lock up and thinking on, I do get longer flights after a full PC start before flying and shorter ones if others have used the PC before me. Can this be the case ?

I've no expertise in .mdl files but I think this plane was formerly a CFS2 model - could that have anything to do with it ?

If anybody's got any ideas for a fix, I'd love to know.
Regards,

Degsy

Hello again,

I'm intrigued at the silence. Is it because nobody's seen this problem or because there's no obvious fix ? :brick:

Hi Degsy :)

I'd love to respond mate but I don't have the model and there's too much I don't know about it and your system to even comment ;-) I find it hard to believe it's actually the .mdl that's causing your lock-up's mind you :dunno: I'd have thought it more likely to be one of the other things you've already tried

Might be better posring this elsewhere.

This is for models under developementand tips for members of this forum so it may well have gone unnoticed by anyone with an answer.

I've not heard of this model even :dunno:

Lockups can be caused by a number of things, a very comon cause of problems are guages. I can't comment on this model though as I don't have it.

Hi,

Found the solution at the Sim Outhouse - a new Gmax .mdl file. Works a treat now :flying:

Hi Degsy,

I see your post over at SOH and I've looked at downloads but can't find update. Can you point me in the right direction please?

John,

The file name is BSK_Mossie.zip, best found by either entering the full zip name in the downloads search or select "Bsk" in the author search. There are also two repaints by Morton in file mk_bsk_mosquitoVI.zip. These are in the colours of Banff Wing and Coastal Command aircraft. There is another repaint in an Australian scheme but it's for CFS 2 and textures are missing for the U/C and other bits.

I've only used the model and texture file from the BSK_Mossie.zip as I have my own re-worked FD files.

This is a good Mosquito, especially as it's free. :)

Degsy
