Not quite sure what you mean there, but some new US carriers with out FS9 restrictions sure would come in handy.

Michael,

I have a copy of FD5 begging for a new home (and not too far to go either)! But... although this pains me to point out, FD5 is absolute pony. But you can still have it if you want - honest!!!

Regards,
Chris

Chris, aha I see LOL, thanks for the offer but working for FD3 was enough for me, or was it FD2 ?, one of them anyway. I've not read or seen much about recent FD episodes so not really sure what the 'boats' are like, shouldn't be hard to usurp in this day and age I'd think :cool: .

Hi Michael, the boats aren't bad to be honest and the talk-down system is very good... one of the major factors in putting people off is that you can only use the carriers from the pre-defined missions. The other major factor is that the aircraft have to be seen to be believed - they've had something of a visual makeover since earlier FDs but that's about it; there is not one of them that you might be tempted to adopt as a hack in free flight.

Regards,
Chris

Chris,

My understanding ( acknowledged as limited in this case ) is that moving carriers can only be accessed from missions ?, perhaps it would be wise for future developers to include both types so that you may fly too/from them in either mission mode or freeflght ?.

Re Aircraft, wouldn't suprise me if they were still using my A-7 LOL

Hi Michael :)

My knowledge on this subject is not even limited.. it's less than that :lol: However.. I know that you can program carriers as AI in FSX and access them from wherever you find them (outside any mission). I've yet to make the cat work on Ark Royal but that may well be me. The wires certainly work though ;-)

Yo Skip :wave:

My understanding has been that only 1 cat works (fwd) though I've tried all 3 areas :dunno: I fear a senior moment could be the cause or perhaps just my understanding of how to cat launch in FSX (or not which may be the case) :lol:

Aircraft.. why, there is only one.. the Skysim Sea Vixen :rock:

Dave,

You're right only the bow cat functions. Do you have the following in the aircraft.cfg?

[launch_assistance]
launch_bar_pivot = 15.0, 0.0, -1.0
launch_bar_lug = 15.0, 0.0, -4.5

and as someone who spent ages trying to get the wrong F-4 to engage the cat, it is the Vixen model you're actually using that it's in?!?!

You then need to park with the front wheel just in front of the cat trolley thingy and then do the shift+u, shift+I dance (I'm guessing you've double checked the keys are assigned). That should all work, if not I'll try some screen grabs of where I park and pm them to you.

:lol: :lol: :lol:

Thanks for that Skip ;-) Yup.. I'd put the nosewheel ahead of the funny thing on the deck presuming this to be correct so I guess it's my keystroke/assignment that is lacking. I'll let you know how I get on ;-)

Could be (thinking about it) that my Vixen is also lacking the necessary addition to the aircraft.cfg as the version I'm using in FSX is still beta.. full version is FS9 and works a treat :worried:
