12 hours later and the HD check is done with no damaged/missing sectors.

Now to play around transferring files to the HD and see if anything untoward happens.......................

Actually watching paint dry would be quite excititng after that. Mind you I did leave overnight to either work or die so it wasn't too bad.

HD is working fine so far. The only other cause of my problem could be a loose connection, I had changed the RAM and that means having to remove the L and C drives to get to the well hidden sockets. I have opened up the case and checked everything that I had moved and every connection in sight/reach. All seems fine. All I can do is keep an eye out for any strange behaviour.

I think I would put add more data to the drive and run the test again overnight, just to make sure.
