Hi guys. Just had a few minutes on FS9, and even with a new machine and new OS, when I shut it down, windows came up with 'FS9 has stopped working' - and it then restarted of it's own accord - this is *exactly* what was happening on the old system. It has never been an issue until recently. Anyone any suggestions? Corrupt file on the discs perhaps? All I can think to do now is obtain a new copy!

Re: FS9 installation knackered?
Rename FS9.cfg and then start FS9 to let it make a new one...Do this first before you do anything drastic.

Creating a new FS9.cfg would have been my suggestion for your old system also - but after I scrolled down the post and noticed you had purchased a new computer, I didn't have the heart to mention it!
Still, on the bright side, it was a good excuse to buy a better computer.

Cheers Nige. Mind you, the fact the old PC refused to boot points to more than FS9 cfg...
(and yes it was some sort of excuse...) :flying:

Re: FS9 installation knackered?
Well, I've had that too - so it's probably not your individual setup, Jim. I never had it with XP though. I figured it was Vista being its usual helpful self and it suspected that me shutting down FS was a CTD so it restarted it for me! It's only happened a few times and accepts my shutdown after the one restart. I never saw it as a problem - just a quirk of FS9 with Vistaforthbridge wrote: when I shut it down, windows came up with 'FS9 has stopped working' - and it then restarted of it's own accord

I don't know how many others here are running Vista and FS9, I suspect most Vista users are FSX, so we may find that we will get the same little annoyances as each other. I can't say as I've found anything that particularly bothers me - it doesn't affect the performance, just slows down your rush to the pub!

Cheers Ian. I suppose it's 'better' in that at least Vista keeps you updated (as if you didn't know) - plenty other progs hang on exit (or did do) on various versions of Window$$ - I suspect pure coincidence that it started close to when the old machine went wonky - just that I honestly cannot remember it restarting itself until after the last resinstall on the old PC.
