Actually I could just make a simple gauge that turned that darn thing on and off by the switch of a ... well switch (but which one :dunno: ) Haven't got a complete panel-layout, so I wouldn't know where to place it.

I wonder if the Civil VC10 had GPWS at all in those days, or if it was invented later?...

Hi Dan :)

I don't know of a GPWS system on any civvie VC10's mate. The 1-11 had a lamp and audible warning if that's any help

As far as I know the civil VC 10 used the old fashion warning system

If you hit the ground you knew you were too low. :$ :doho:

I don't think the Nigeria Airways loss would have occurred if one had been fitted. :dunno:

I'm fairly sure if you delete the whole [GPWS] section then it turns all the alarms off.

Hi SKip,

Yep.. it's another way around the problem. I hate the darned things anyway so found it easier to remove the offending gauges rather than trawl through all the ones I'd ported over to change the cfg :) Whichever you're happy with is the order of the day ;-)

You only need the max_warning_height = -1 AFAIK. The example I gave was taken directly from the Acceleration F-18, and that's all there was.
I also think deleting the whole section will not disable the GPWS, as my Hunter never had it in the first place and you still get call outs :dunno:
I'm probably wrong though

DG,

You may be right, although at some point I found I was getting GPWS warnings in my Wyvern despite never having added it, looked in the cfg and there was a section for it, and some gear warning system as well. It may have been added by a third party editor at some point, I just removed the whole section as it was annoying me!

Dave: You're absolutely right because, as you very well know, the VC10 doesn't have that section either.

Btw. We had the exact same recommendation over at HJG a while back :doho: Just slipped my mind.

Dan..

If we could all remember everything we've seen and been told.. there'd be no need for forums, books or Wikipedia ;-)
