Re: At last ...!
You're very welcome Dan. I first copped these abominations early on in my FSX experience. While you expect such intrusions in certain aircraft.. I believe I was in either Ricks Meatbox or DG's Hunter at the time and I actually swore out load.. the last of the two words spoken being 'OFF'
They were removed at that moment ;-)

Well my family almost simultaneously shouted: "Turn that thing down" ....
Btw. if you want a luminous GPS in the VC10 in FSX, edit the following line in the [window02] section of the panel.cfg:
from:
gauge00=gps!gps, 0,0,150,250
to:
[Window02]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=545,354
position=8
visible=0
ident=GPS_PANEL
gauge00=fs9gps!gps_295, 0,0

Re: At last ...!
Whoa! What's that DC10 thingy doing at that altitude with his flaps down? Looks like some sort of in-flight emergency like a decompression or something. Anyway, he ought to go and have it somewhere else. That sort of stuff doesn't tie in with swift, silent and serene flying, does it?
So if you're flying JFK to LAX in a VC10 are you doing the famous BA591 LHR/JFK/LAX/HNL/SUV/SYD or MEL? Because if you are you will be using the callsign Speedbird 591! Do I go around using G-ASGK without asking permission? What a cheek! This calls for a spot of bunny-boiling methinks
Anyway, I'll forgive you if you post more screenies.

Re: At last ...!
I think the 'Bitching Betty's' GPWS problem is probably caused by a very old gauage. You might want to try Rob Barendregt's rcbgp-33.zip gauge available at all nodes. This is for FS9 and I don't know if it works in FSX. The great thing about this gauge is that can turn off the audio warnings selectivly - and in FS9 at least, I have noticed the audio warnings only sound when warranted.

Re: At last ...!
Hi Nigel
I think it's more to do with the FS9-FSX conversion process mate. Neither DaveG's Hunter had it as standard (and I was involved in much of the panel for the FS9 model) nor did Rick's Meteor (and I had a fair bit to do with that too). FSX looks at the type of aircraft and will 'add it' when it see's fit. If you run either of the above in FS9 and you hear this cr@p.. let me know as it shouldn't be there ;-)

Re: At last ...!
Will do - not being involved in the darkside ;-) I was unaware of that little conversion. How very thoughtful of FSX to do that!
Re: At last ...!
Bluntly nicked from fsdeveloper:
Annoyed by the don't sink or terrain callouts ?
Ultimate method for GPWS control -
Open up the settings -> controls -> buttons menu in FSX.
Select 'systems' in the event category drop down
Find an assignment called 'GPWS(Toggle)'
Assign a key to this and you'll be able to silence the GPWS system at will.

Re: At last ...!
If you don't want to disable Betty for all aircraft, she can be silenced on a per-aircraft basis, by editing the aircraft.cfg.
[GPWS]
max_warning_height = -1 //No need for GPWS

Re: At last ...!
What about the others (from the SDK):
[GPWS]
max_warning_height=
sink_rate_fpm=
excessive_sink_rate_fpm=
climbout_sink_rate_fpm=
flap_and_gear_sink_rate_fpm=
Should I set them all to -1 or?
