Test Canberras at BAC Warton

Post by nazca_steve »

Hello all,

I took a short break from the Sea Hawk this weekend and knocked out two new Canberra schemes for Paul Foster's models. The first is G-27-111, which was the prototype B.62 export model for Argentina, as seen her prior to her UK Civil reg coding and final paintwork. This was test-flown by BAC's long-serving test pilot Roland Beaumont at Warton in late 1969 I believe.

After my 2 year old daughter Amelia finished with it...

The second is a chase-plane English Electric set aside for themselves, G-ATZW, formerly WD937, later painting it all black (sexy) and using it various purposes including chasing the TSR-2.

TRYING to play catch-up!

If there is interest I will post them to the Pond.

Cheers,

Steve

Yes please. I love the black one! If this aircraft had a VC, I am sure I would fly it a lot more.

Oh, Trev, you and your VCs! I doubt you'll be flying the Sea Hawk much then. ;-)

I will upload both schemes this weekend hopefully. As for the TSR2 shot, now we just need a new model for that...then we can really try G-ATZW out chasing one. No takers on the outcome of that race.

Good old English Electric.

Yeah it's a shame that the 'Simshed' variant never made it.. that would have been great. Still there's always AlphaSim's (the best), Ito's and the Bluesteel version (http://www.bluesteelfs.com/)

Looking forward to those paints and thanks to all the work you do... it's great stuff :welldone: :welldone: :welldone:

Kind regards

John, the Simshed TSR-2 suffered from bad timimg firstly it woriginated in the period when FSDS went to 3.5 so all animations had to be redesigned, then it took second place in the queue to the Sea Vixen, then lost out again when the jump to FSX was needed. However if you have a look in the gallery section on the Skysim website you'll see that she is alive and well and currently flying around (as a development model) in FSX.

Now I'd pay very good cash money for an FSX TSR-2 ;-)
