Yeovilton

Post by forthbridge »

HI all

Just back from a week in Dorset. Weather was absolutely atrocious - everywhwere we went, it seemed to rain when we stopped.

On wednesday, while Samantha bargain hunted in Yeovil, I nipped up to the museum at Yeovilton. Sadly, with the weather, it was absolutely packed, and proved impossible to take many shots without someone standing in frame - so I only managed two. The carrier experience sounded 'loud' - but that will wait for another time, as the monumental queues to get in put me right off even thinking about having a look!

As I was leaving, (caught in another downpour) a Seaking was getting airborne into the murk - I bet the pilot was none to pleased :o - but that and a couple of Apaches over sherbourne were the only aerial movements witnessed.

Here's the two shots I managed. Definately worthwhile visiting the museum - (but try and go on a sunny day when it will hopefully be quieter ;-) )

Hi Jim,

Nice pics ;-)

I live a 25 minute drive away from the museum so visit regularly...I like to stand and stare at the Hunter in the background of your second shot. To quote Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy...'your eyes just slide off it....'

I was the other side of the fence the other week... sadly I didn't get a chance to go into the museum

Lovely shots!

I also happen to live close to Yeovilton and enjoy regular visits. I also love the Hunter! :tonqe:

It seems us CBFSers are passing like [Royal Navy] ships in the night!

I'm also a member of the Society of Friends of the FAAM and attend their monthly talks... it occurred to me that maybe there are other SoFFAAM members among us??? If so, do speak up!
