I think that's very much on the cards Chris. HeavyLift are desparately short of Tyne spares which I guess is the main reason for PS ending it's days in this country. Sad it had to end this way.

Considering the state of the Belfast at Cosford, I.E Immacualate (At least it was last time I saw it a few years ago anyway) I would be very suprised if they were to get rid of it. It was, at least the last time I saw it, in R.A.F Transport Command white and grey with the blue flash running down the middle, and what an aircraft!

Its a shame to hear about the one at Southend, there are fewer and fewer examples of this aircraft about, and now it seems that most of the active ones will be on the other side of the world (For me anyway).

As to active the other side of the world I suppose the only one does sort of count as most

Sadly that will be it :-(

The active one and the Cosford one......still looking on a bright side that is 20 per cent of the production :worried:

Sorry Garry Just checked the Heavylift site to find they have only one Belfast. When I wrote my post I thought they had more than one, so it perhaps didn't make as much sense as it could have done!

They might have said two until recently as this one was being prepared for service and in a way was a part of the fleet but that's not the case now :-(

Latest on 'EPS is it has been handed over for scrapping but the breaking will not happen just yet

They've not stripped her of good bits yet, but there is a short limit where she has to be cleared by so it will be progressive.

There is still time to pay her a visit if anyone is in the area.

Pity they didn't stage a Belfast/Tyne enthusiasts open day to run up the engines for one last time :tunes: .... :-(

I don't think they quite got to that stage

This is just a useless piece of junk to them so no way are they going to spend money to run it up before scrapping.

We were offered 4 x time-expired Tynes in exchange for our 4 on APEP and my guess is.. they were the 4 off PS :o As Garry says.. they'd probably not got as far as having fuel onboard and PS was after all, a commercial concern. They don't tend to throw money at stuff for old times sake I'm afraid.
