Hi all

Just wondered if anyone has tried my ambass update on flynet. If yes, did it go OK and did you make a profit?

Hi Paul..

Well, the point with FlyNET is that regardless of how you have a particular aircraft loaded 'in sim'.. it will base the flight on the information contained on the database. The time has not yet arrived where FlyNET will add/remove passengers/cargo or physically make any changes to how the sim is setup other than to add/remove fuel. All of our Ambassador flights are based around the model entered on the database and this is fitted out 'sardine' class. My personal thoughts are that we'd probably do better out of the AS57 were it fitted out (entered on the database) as a Combi but to change all of our aircraft to this arrangement isn't practical I'm afraid.

I've not noticed an increase in AS57 activity unfortunately but as the old saying goes, you can lead a horse to water..

Looks like for flynetters it was a waste of time. Never mind, I enjoyed doing it, strangely, more than any other I have worked on. Mus be summat wong wiv me!

Eventually we (FlyNET/FSAirlines) want to impliment some sort of automatic payloading of the aircraft, but at this time we don't have it setup, so it is somewhat "without merit" at this time, however I do try to keep my plane loaded as FlyNET does assuming that the database has good information entered. As FSAirlines is getting very close to going "live" and the associated transition from FlyNET to FSAirlines, the new client, and much expanded server-side operations, I suspect you'll see more "solid" reviews of the Ambassador updates. I personally haven't had a chance to try them out yet (Venture Hawaii doesn't fly any and I haven't thought to buy any for Venture Mountain...yet) but as I fly for fun almost as much as for the VA, I'll let you know what I think when I get a chance.

I am in the latter part of a round robin in the SC7. As soon as I have finished I will do a couple of flights in the Ambassador.

Flew her today from EGNT to EGLL. Very nice. Seemed a bit juicy but may be me. Flew her at 15000'. KIAS about 184kts.

The word 'juicy' puzzles me. Do you mean heavy on fuel, or too lively? We didn't do much testing at 15 thou except to to check that we could get 148 kias at that height. The recommendation in the BEA manual is to set routes to avoid going above 8 thou; this way you avoid the need to use rated boost (48 ins) and save lots of fuel.

Sorry about the delay in replying. By juicy I mean fuel consumption. It seemed higher than the figures given on the routes pages. I flew a round robin EGNT-EGLL-EGJJ-EGNT.
The first leg was at 15000. Fuel used 1536lbs.
The second leg was at 12000. Fuel used 1284lbs
The third leg was at 15000. Fuel used 2280lbs.

I used real weather Active Sky and RCV4 for ATC. The settings I used for KIAS were from the FSNav settings provided on this site.

The third leg seemed to be nearer the figures but perhaps I got better at managing the speeds etc.
