Hawker Seahawk static AI

Post by Seaking »

With Steve's kind permission I am posting up some pics of a static model only with wings folded
to see how the model will look as AI. This is in no way a pre beta release
I must say what a bevvy of beauties !!

My thanks to Steve for agreeing to take the time to knock up a static model and for allowing me the pleasure
of putting a few shots together. I posted here rather than the gallery as she is still very much in development.
The pics are not edited in any way, just re sized.

Enjoy;

This is what it's all about! Strength in numbers, a taste of the 'real navy' days that came up in another post. Nice work indeed, Seaking. Time for me to start brushing up on my carrier traps. :worried:

Wonderful!!

A beautiful aircraft on an excellent ship.

Steve's own website indicates that a Wyvern will be arriving in the future and we have the Alpha Sea Venom and the Gannet AS4 now. To add to the air group an 849 Skyraider AEW aircraft would be good. There is one over at Sim-Outhouse or Simviation but it is not an FS9 model.

What type of helicopter did the HMS Ark Royal have operating in the SAR role at the time of Suez?

I would think the SAR would have been a Whirlwind, bit to early for a wessex, something to check on though.

The Whirlwind fit's that timezone pretty well coming into service in '56. Prior to that, the Dragonfly was our main helicopter :)

Garry, not sure if you know about this site, but the restoration diary site for WV838 has some brilliant 'real navy' shots of the Sea Hawk, such as these HMS Bulwark shots (great Suez ops action in there too, right down to the dirty gun ports):

The rest of the gallery is well worth a look too:

Check out the pictures showing at least one type of helo in use.

The Whirlwind would have been there in abundance as it was heavily used for the airborne assault.

Just to set the record straight, the Wyvern is not mine, but yes, we are definitely getting there with the right materials to populate our decks now. It would be quite nice to have a new Gannet down the line...
