Help on inverted gauges please.

Post by Marty »

Hello all, I am making an aircraft for FSX using FSDS and have almost completed the model, the interior and exterior models are both working well. The problem started as I began to add gauges. The Virtual cockpit in FSX shows all the gauges inverted. I have tried flipping, inverting, rotating the the polygons and there axis- that make up the virtual cockpit panels but nothing has any effect and the gauges remain upside down.
I have not encountered this before so any help would be most welcome. Thanks in advance Marty
BTW what is the plural of axis? Axi? Axises does not look right.

Maybe it's because you're in Australia

Axsis.(spelling) pronounced Axe-ese is what I use for plural

Anyways..sorry.....I couldn't resist.......are you going to give us a peek of your baby???

You say you've flipped the polys and also the Axsis but have you flipped the whole part rather than the individuals???

Just a long shot :dunno:

No luck in flipping the whole part either.
all the virtual cockpit gauges are inverted not only the main panel,
compass, fuel gauges, the lot.

I chose this for its simplicity for my first x to mod effort.

Hi Marty

Looking good.

I know nothing really about vitual cockpits but it seems that the problem is the images are the wrong way up before they are projected.

Does you FSDS have all the necessary for FS.X??

Its true that the images are upside down but the gauges still function in the manner they were made, ie. correctly in relation to the art work. So not only are the images upside down but the code for the gauges has been inverted as well. The software claims to be for FSX, this is the first model I have made with FSDS for FSX so I can not be sure it works correctly.
Perhaps other people have already made models with this software? (Abacus) FSDS v3.5
The gauges I am using are all default FSX as well.
Cheers Marty

Hi Marty

you just need to tick the invert "Y" axis box when you assign the texture to the projection polys.

it's all in the FSDS help files that come with it.
