Blurries ..again...I have no hair left!!!!!
Once again I am plagued with Blurries in FS9 and FSX, add-on airports and aircraft stay perfectly focused and correct, scenery goes a bit blurred then gets worse and looks like it is mipped to hell and back so I can see nothing unless I refresh the textures. Which cures the problem for another few minutes before it goes rat sh*t again :@
I have got nHancer installed and set up (seems to offer bugger all) I have shut down anti virus and Spysweeper I have tried everything including FS9.cfg rebuild and also various settings. I have tried loads of drivers for the Nvidia 8600GT card.
Now the card.... I wonder if its bust?? why?? well after using FS anyway for a period of time I get interference similar to a vehicle with no suppression on an old TV (static interference)and then the colours flash randomly etc etc. I have removed the card and put it back in to check if its seated correctly etc. A reboot is required to get it working again. I have been looking at a 8600gts 512mb DDr3 card but am loath to buy one in case this is not my problem. Its got to the point where I can no longer run FS with confidence I am going to complete even a short flight and these blurries are taking any fun left away.. Any clues on card/blurries ...a magic fix???? I will trade my world peace in my middle earth for a blurry free FS9 at this moment in time!
cheers Tony
ps I did not have much hair but its going quicker than roadrunner on speed at the moment....

Tony,
How long will the computer run without graphics problems not running FS? It may also be worth trying another graphically intensive game and seeing if that causes problems, if you haven't got one there're a load of demos you can download off the internet that should serve the purpose.
Basically if you get the same problems with another game, it's probably the graphics card, if not it's probably an FS setting, although from the other symptoms you describe it sounds likely it's a card issue.
By the way please tell me you didn't unplug and reseat the card with the power on?

No I powered down earthed myself then reseated the card, not tried any other game but I have never seen this sympton before and when I shut FS down the static effect and flashing colours do not go away without reboot, but if the card is duff I can accept, however is this a cause of the blurries?? Ok I know that as you pan round etc scenery "pops" into focus but it has got worse and worse. Also when you look outside at your plane or other ai aircrfat etc they take ages to get mapped with textures...

Maybe a bit of the wall, Tony, but you mention trying "loads of drivers" and I am wondering if you are thoroughly cleaning out old driver versions before installing new ones. Still, I don't imagine you started the search for new drivers until you had the problem, but it is the only thing i can think of at the moment.
Skippy's suggestion to try a graphic intensive demo game is an excellent one.

Just tried Call of Duty 2 with max settings and the card is now flashing like a perv in a raincoat think that decides it re the card!! guess get a new one or borrow one and see if FS9 is cured...somehow doubt it.....as I have been down that road before....

yes I used a program to destroy and remove remains of old Nvidia drivers before installing the last one.

There was a plug given on this site some time ago, , about a little free unility called "Nastly File Remover" by Rudy Alex Kohn, (sorry no link you will have to Google), that allows you to search for & delete driver left overs from nVidia, ATI, Creative, Matrox & S3, (never heard of last 2), before reinstall/updating drivers.tonymadge wrote:yes I used a program to destroy and remove remains of old Nvidia drivers before installing the last one.
Edit - just done a quick Google which brings up plenty of choices as to where to download NFR from. Here is one http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3233.html

I remember pairing a 2mb S3 card with one of the first 3DFX accelerator cards. You tell that to the kids these days and they'll probably knife you for drug money, but that's progress....

Don't think they will need the need for money nowadays but hey I trickle from the point... I have thought hard about this and I will have to buy a new card I guess, then the one I have will get returned to on line shop for replacement/refund, if its replacement it goes as new on eBay, at least I can recoup cost and stay with a working pc..You tell that to the kids these days and they'll probably knife you for drug money,
If I get the blurries again though do not stand under my upstairs office (very little bedroom) window as a large black case and two monitors will be learning to fly very badly :brick:
