I joined AWA at Baginton in 1959/60 so I was involved in the production of the Argosy and later the refurbishment of the same.I was also responsible for the manufacture of the Avro 748 tailplane and fin main spars. After the closure of Baginton I transfered to Bitteswell where we carried out Major refurbishment projects including Vulcan, hunter, shackleton,Red arrow team Gnat and Hawks indeed I was involved with the original conversion of std Hawks into Arrows(fitting of dye tanks etc).Other projects included Harrier, Buccaneer,Phantom(outer wings) Victor Bomber Cockpit (I never saw a whole one)it was the section from the plenum chamber forward.I could carry on but I think I've bored you enough as it is.anyway there it is.You can perhaps see why I like old british iron,I owe it a lot.
Indeedie.. we're so boring ourselves, it's impossible for us to get bored
Don't suppose you remember a Paul Essex from your Baginton days. I'm sure my team leader on the Brooklands Vanguard was there at some point but I couldn't put a year to it I'm afraid
