Most outlandish/odd Pub name?

The only one of those I've been in is Mcnasty's - where ISTR the barman kept topping my pint up for nothing, as I was the only person in at the time

I'm pretty sure that after that particular night, I was on the phone to the bank on the Monday querying an ATM withdrawal. Seemingly I did take out extra cash, goodness knows what it went on but judging by my head and tongue like a Camels' hoof the next day.........

But anyway, this is about pub names, not drunken lunacy.....

One of my favourites was simple 'The Office' , not the most amusing of names but one with a perfect excuse.


"I won't be home for dinner tonight dear, I've got to stay late at the office." ;-)

was one which the ex got very bored of after a while.

A few years back (when I was still in the UK) we had a pub in the local town that basked in the title of 'The Slug and Lettuce' (no kidding! :roll: ) There was also one close by a set of allotments in Stoke-on-Trent called 'The Gardener's Retreat'.

There is also a 'Labour in Vain' in Yarnfield in North Staffordshire that has the self same pub sign outside! Small world eh!

A few years back (when I was still in the UK) we had a pub in the local town that basked in the title of 'The Slug and Lettuce'

We also have one by that name, it was originally called Yates Bar but eventually taken over by another company who renamed it the Slug & Lettuce.
