FLV to AVI / WMV Convertors

Anyone know of a free FLV to AVI (preferred) or WMV convertor?

I've saved a video from youtube that I'd like to chop into segments & extract the sound from, for some ringtones. I've got the software to do that from AVI but of course the video, as downloaded from youtube, is an FLV.

I've found a couple of commercial demos that work ok but they put a watermark on the video (no problem, I only need the sound) but every few seconds the sound is disrupted too. As I only need it for this one exercise I'm too tight to pay for any software to do it!

If you have Audacity you can use that to record "What You Hear" A bit awkward but you start recording in Audacity then play the video. Audacity will then record the soundtrack, which you can later edit. This will probably be a lot faster than converting video formats.

Audacity is freeware, and one of the best programs for tinkering with sound.

If you use Mozilla Firefox - I have addon or plugin - whats the difference - called Downloadhelper that downloads and converts to selected format - just sits on my toolbar. VG.
If all else fails you can Google 'Online video converter' for sites that do same.
After that I Dunno..
