Re: thumnails
Hi David
I am very worried that you have uploaded anything without our permission.
what are you uploading and do you have permission to alter or upload whatever it is ?.
we do not allow our work to be stolen and uploaded by people making updates for FSX as it requires our permission
and currently we get ripped off daily by these people that have no idea how FSX works and upload our copyrighted material
it is Illegal to upload any of our models or files without our or the authors permission.
sorry but this post is very suspicious

Re: thumnails
I think he's asking how to resize images so he can use them as thumbnails in his FSX selection menu. Didn't see a mention of uploading anything in there.
I'm sure David can clarify though. ;-)

Re: thumnails
Hi Rick, I've read it again and I think he means as thumbnails in FSX.
I think they need to be renamed thumbnail.jpg and placed in the texture folder for that particular repaint. I'm not sure what size they have to be.

Re: thumnails
Hi Ben
It's all in the FSX sdk mate
ACES say they have to be exactly 256 x 128 pixels but this is not actually true.
i would suggest 256 by whatever the image is if it keeps it's default ratio is a good size for a thumbnail
but as UKMil says FS resizes it anyway to 256 while you look at it.
Regards
Rick

With all due respect to those creative people who do such a fantastic job of providing us lucky users with marvellous freeware aircraft, might we try and assume innocence first before rushing to judgement?
PS - welcome to the board, David!

Nigel
If your work had been ported and ripped off as many times as mine then you got the many hundreds of why is it a portover and why doesn't this work you would be as fast to jump too mate.
My Copyrights are very clear but they are totally ignored by the portover crews.
which is why i stay vigilant.
agree or not i am not going to change until it stops.
If you can repaint (which would be the legitimate reason to make a thumbnail you would know how to resise an image)
the only other reason to add thumbnails is when porting Non FSX models !
Are you seeing a pattern of logic yet?.
I rest my case
Rick :-(

Re: thumnails
Rick,
Even though I have very, very little work to be ripped off, I can certainly understand your feelings. I would be super p*ss*d also if someone did that to me. However, I still think that innocent until proven guilty would be a good principle to follow. After all, it is the foundation of the legal system in the UK and even here in the Colonies! Although here in high profile trials, a lot of pre-trial media attention tends to negate that principle. ;-)
Supposing he did want the thumbnails to port a non FSX model into FSX? If he is not a repainter then it well may be the case that he needed help in resizing. These maybe strictly for his own personal use. If that turns out not to be the case and evidence suggests your Copyright has been violated, then you are justified in strongly protesting the violation and taking whatever steps you deem appropriate to insure the violator ceases and desists.
Since his post was a first post on the board, I thought your reaction was a tad harsh, but I do understand your point of view also. Of course the fact that the message was posted on THIS particular board may not heve helped the situation. Could be a newbie mistake, or something more and I don't know which at the moment.
Ok, instruct the Jury and let's all go to the pub. I'll buy the virtual pint! CHEERS CHEERS :drinkers:
