You know John.. I loved Concorde with a passion when she was in service. I was one of the many that dashed outside every day as soon as I heard her engines right up until she passed into history. I don't know if it was the nature of her withdrawal or what but that affection.. the magic has gone. That's not to say your screenies aren't excellent because they are ;-)
EDIT..
A thought has just occured to me. What if BA got the LHR airframe and flew it to Brunters. Just how cool would THAT be seeing Concorde doing fast taxi runs

That's cool Dave, each to there own ;-) For me it still makes me sad that this amazing piece of classic British engineering and design is no more and that there will never be anything quite like it ever again.
I used to live and work under the flight path and everyday that noise, that sight was simply unique. It's still one of the few aircraft that even though there's more than one, a single airframe was never referred to as 'A Concorde', but simply as 'Concorde'... I don't know what that says... it's just an observation. Does it still move me in the same way? You know you may be right possibly not, but it did...boy did it move me ;-)
And having been lucky enough to experience her first hand up where she belonged on a couple of occasions (not at my cost I hasten to add!) and had 'one of my own' for two days on a commercial photo shoot (albeit on the ground), she'll always have a place in my heart.
Kind regards as always Dave, hope all is well with you.
Take care
John

I'd agree with ALL of your above mate. I never got the opportunity to get up 'close and personal' so maybe it's just seeing DeltaGolf every week that has tainted my memory. Although DG was a flyer in the early days (albeit as a test airframe) she turned up at Brooklands as a lorry load of bits having been hacked up for the journey by road from Filton. She'd been used as an instructional airframe for many years and didn't look like a great deal of care had been taken. Seeing her now.. close to her former glory, I appreciate the hard work that the Brooklands crew have done but to me.. she's only ever been a lorry load of junk even though you'd be hard pushed to see that now. To see Concorde as a flyer.. in her element, has been one of the aviation highlights of my life and I rue the fact I never got the opportunity to fly on one. Even the cheap flights were always out of my reach and then suddenly, she was going out of service and every flight was fully booked and could have been many times over had BA extended (been able to extend) her final out of service date.
I suppose I'm as angry at my personal poverty as I am her service life being cut short and there's no one I can blame for that ;-)
As I've come to expect from you wonderfull screenshots. You must have some retouching skill to produce these...love them all but especially the first one!
It is surely unique when we [used] to say: "Look, there's Concorde!" or "I saw Concorde today." Rather than refering to it as "THE" or even "A". You don't even get that referel with the Spitfire, or the QE2, or the Hindenberg. So it just shows what an aura Concorde had (and still has).
Personally, she doesn't quite do it for me, as I prefer the other Delta lady, so perhaps soon, when (if) she gets just as famous, it will apply to 558! After all, it would be very fitting as she IS now unique, and does look like Concorde........
I lost count of the times that I forgot to "listen out" at 1100 am when crossing the channel in my boat...My reaction to the two excrutiatingly loud bangs, was usually "BL**DY CONCORDE!!!" :o
