They would have started on that as FS.X was being packaged up pre release.

Still a way off yet though, last I heard was 2010....but does anyone really know :dunno:

One rumour I've read is that it will coincide with the next M$ OS which will (coincidentally) coincide with the working version of DX10.. otherwise known as DX11

Word on the street in Seattle is that the next FS version will be release AFTER the next OS release. Although dates in 2009 are being suggested for Windows 7 its much more likely to be mid to late 2010. It is unlikely the FS11 will be released prior to the new OS as it would fall foul of being unable to take advantage of the enhancements in the new OS. (ala DX10 in FSX) As a result there is a fair bit of time left in FSX.

Oh yeh.. agree with that Ben. We didn't think it possible for M$ to make a cockup the size of the one they made with FS2000/CFS3 but we live in an era of 'living proof' I've read 2010 for the next OS so any FSXi wouldn't (if the same folk are still employed) appear until some months (some being the operative word) later. By this time.. 8-core chips will probably be 'on stream' and 'CoD5' will require a personal indemnity before you're allowed to start a game

Wonder how many of us will still be running FS9

Getting back to FSX add-ons for a moment, and I know its payware, but earlier this evening I bought the Aerosoft DHC-2 for FSX. Because I'd already got the FS9 version, they only charged me 8.95 euros ( as opposed to 23.95 ). I'm incredibly pleased with that; a very fair deal indeed in my opinion.

okay, where were we...Flight Sim 11 etc !

Me. probably.

But I'm completely in the hands of his excellency MaltbyD. 90% of my flying is with his gorgeous creations and whatever vehicle they work best in is the one for me. How clever is that?

Count me in on that as well Ian.

Very happy with what I have got, brilliant a/c, scenery is good (using Ground Environment) little bits of add-ons to reduce the beam of the landing lights to make them more realistic and much better trees so all in all I am very happy with what I have.

Unless of course when the next version comes out after FSX it has all the bells and whistles without the need to constantly upgrade  I'm probably staying put!!
