HI all,
Experiencing a problem with the 748 - I'm not sure if it's my handling of the aircraft. Was cruising at 205kts, 7000ft, when the port engine started belching smoke, and about two minutes later, the starboard started doing the same, with loss of power. I've not had this problem with the Andover...
Relight was on, so I'm not sure the smoke wasn't the engine trying to restart - there were also Alt and Gen failure lights.
This was after about 15 mins flight.

HS 748 checklist

Re: HS 748 checklist
Hi Jim
I had the same problem with this aircraft, the very helpfull guys on this forum told me to do the following:
Start a flight from a default aircraft the Cessna will do, then change to the 748.
When the 748 opens you will be confronted by several flashing yellow lights telling you all is not well so the first thing too do is get rid of the yellows. Switch on you pitot heaters and the panel will allready look a lot friendlier. Next go to the fuel panel and turn your fuel heaters on. You don't have to do it in that order but it works for me. Next go to the overhead LH panel and switch on both generators, when they are stable turn on the engine deice, choose either slow or fast I choose slow, that is all that is required and hopefully it should stop you falling out of the sky.
This info was kindley supplied too me from DaveB so hopefully he will not have to go through it again unless I have missed anything.

Re: HS 748 checklist
Thanks Tonek
I had performed the following switch presses:
Prop sync, Crossfeed, Pitot heaters, fuel heaters, anti-ice, airframe anti-ice..... however, I omitted to turn the generators :o
Sorted - thanks again :flying:

Cheers Dave ;-)
Mind you, I was over Mcleland field - it could have been the managers' retribution for the recent inspection.....
(For some reason the Board of Trade livery is my fave at the mo...)

You may not believe this Jim but almost all of the testing I did on the 748 was out of MCL Field. Leif did the hot and high, short field stuff in the Pacific and I did the cold and frosty so MCL is no stranger to the 748 ;-)

Re: HS 748 checklist

Good to know - well Xray India has been performing magnificently (using the AP) around that area - highly enjoyable - just what flightsim should be all about ;-)

**Although I might find 'Echo' on a stern conversion intercept if I don't stop buzzing the managers' office
