Vickers Viscount Flight Model...

Post by Macs »

Anybody know where I could start to develop an air model (file) for the Viscount? Any version would do. Thanks in advance for your help,
regards,
Macs :)

Hi Macs

i would leave it to Fraser or Horse as it's far from simple.
(not an insult to you as i have no idea if you make fde files or not already but it's not a simple job) ;-)

I have made my own fde files for 9 years and class my self as an amatuer still so it's not simple at all.

eventually i will do one based on the 748 files as they are closest to correct as possible at the moment
in FS9 & FSX

Rick

Tbh Macs

I fly the 700 sometimes and I have never seen the things you are getting.

Are you sure all your files are up to date and matched??

Hi Garry

last time i flew the 700 i seem to think it was not far from the numbers just a little pitch sensitive

similar to how the Vanguard is.

certainly not miles off.

it's more likely as file mismatch .................or Macs has not followed the edit of the aircraft.cfg listed in the panel install instructions ? ;-)

As i know the later panels had instructions on how to make the Viscounts fly correct for type as Fraser is a very thorough beastie when he makes a panel

Rick

Hi RIck

Pitch sensitive yes but no.1 surging and rapid accelleration on two engines.......I find it won't accellerate at all on two :) and can be hard to rebuild airspeed with the flaps down if allowed to decay too much.

On the real aircraft though they used a lot of power to get moving the throttled back to stop it running away.....this I find with all the Darts....perhaps that what is meant here.

But it was good in it's day no doubting that.

Problem with improving and raising standards is the old stuff seems hard work

But as you rightly say not something easily fixed unless you know dynamics inside out

I'll double check the files, but I do remember this problem for a while back. I have done all the aircraft.cfg mods detailed in the panel tutorials. Also, the exterior model goes transparent at night on all models. I have already asked about this , but don't quite remember what was the reason for this (no big deal as I rarely look at outside model anyway :)
Thanks all for your help,
Here's the tutorial's recommendation mods for the aircraft.cfg for the 700 (V.4)

Hi Macs

Model transparency I assume is only the 800

The later model has different night textures _L......the earlier uses _LM

If you use old paints with later model or later paints with older models this happens

The later model is the one with the opening doors.

Ok. Thanks Gary. One more question, where is the synchronizer "switch" on V.4 of the 700 panel? Thanks again,

Macs :)
