Hi Scorpius :)

No mate.. I didn't think SP3 was the cause but I am clutching at straws here as this was the only major difference other than the obvious.. clean install, different chipset/cpu, different graphics card. I cannot get the throttles to sit at flight idle without em jumping all over the place :'(

WinXP SP3
DirectX 9 May 08
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L
2 gig Crucial Ballistix
2 x 500gig sata II drives
20x Liteon DVD writer (sata)
ATI HD2900XT 512mb PCIe

Runs a treat on my other systems and I don't get the list of errors :'( I'm starting to lean towards the graphic drivers but have lost the will to fiddle for now :-(

I've installed this latest issue of DirectX 9c but can not see any differences to report yet

Hi Dave,

I have exactly the same problems with the throttles. Also, I can only start No.1 (and then only using CTRL+E) but 2,3 and 4 don't want to play. Not a fuel problem either.

Off to find some answers!

No Tony,

I did not like the latest drivers (before last) and have reverted to 94.24 and decided to ignore all future Nvidia drivers...I think they may well suit the latest cards but not my Bliss 7800GS+ AGP card from Gainward. I feel that probably the 94.24 drivers will remain the best for my card. I am happy with how things look with the latest DirectX 9c issue and my latest screenshots were taken with it (see Angles on George) :flying:

Its always best to check the details of the driver before downloading it. Nvida alway include a list of what has been enhanced in a particular driver.

Example:
175 WHQL
WHQL-certified driver for GeForce 6, 7, 8, and 9 series GPUs.
Improved 3D performance and load times for GeForce 8 and 9 series GPUs in some DirectX 9, DirectX 10 and OpenGL applications as a result an improved shader optimizer.
Supports single GPU and NVIDIA SLI™ technology on DirectX 9, DirectX 10, and OpenGL, including 3-way and Quad SLI technology.
Supports Hybrid SLI technology to turbo-charge graphics performance and enjoy intelligent power management.
Adds support for NVIDIA GeForce 3D Stereo Technology
Several game and application compatibility fixes. Please read the release notes for more information on product support, features, driver fixes and known compatibility issues.
Notice how although it supports the 6 and 7 series cards, there are no performance improvements for these earlier cards.

A good tip for those with older cards is stick with an older driver set where their performance and compatibility "peaked" as chances are it won't get any better, newer driver revisions tend to focus on the mid-high end graphics cards that are still for sale.
