Out and About in DM's Comet

Post by speedbird591 »

I can't remember when I last had time to do a 'proper' flight in FS! I had a couple of hours free today so I took the Comet from Tehran to Damascus navigating VOR to VOR. She looked so pretty I thought I'd pop a couple of screenies up.

Into Saudi Arabia and turning NW over the beacon at Ar'ar

Dodging the high ground as she turns towards Damascus International

The only problem was an overspeed warning when I nudged the throttles with my Atlas. I've filed a safety report :$

Thanks, Paul. I found time tonight to extend my 'Evil Axis' tour into Lebanon. A quick hop from Damascus over the Druze Mountains to Beirut. It's great to get back to basic flying after playing with the luxury of the Trident autoland

The landing would have been a cracker if they hadn't built the runway 4 metres too far to the right

Thats my sort of beef Ian

I find all runways either ten feet too high or ten feet too low :'(

I ended the tour with a flight from Beirut to Karachi to stir up some old memories. I couldn't leave Palestine without an en route visit to Gaza to pay my respects to one of the greatest architects of modern aviation. If it hadn't been for Yasser Arafat, the aviation security industry would be one man and a dog and commercial flying might have actually been fun

Well, I hope his people appreciate all he achieved for them  On the flight down I gave the Israeli Defence Force a wide berth and flew well out in the Med. The brown, heavily populated, dusty, barren, lumpy bit is the Gaza strip, the brown ordinary bit is the Egyptian Sinai and guess who owns the green, lush bit that used to be their home?

My navigation to Karachi was pretty good but the visibility was a shock when I got there and a bit of side wind made the landing quite interesting.

That's it for now - I'm having a break in Karachi to go crab fishing.
