Dunno what the problem is.

I ve taken all cloud out, and set visibility to minimum, base zero, top 6000ft, and it looks fine (well foggy) at Edinburgh, but the same conditions at Heathrow give that same weird look with banding etc in the mist??????

Well, I'm stumped too, Jim. That's the same settings (more or less) as in my screenshot at LHR. I haven't seen banding like that so we'll have to wait for an expert to come along.

It's probably to do with the card/driver combination and AA/AF settings rather than the sim itself :)

The 'artifacts' seem to disappear about a third of the way into the takeoff roll at EGLL. I mucked around in the cessna, and whenever I approach the threshold (taxiing) the artifacts reappear.

One of the settings that does NOT get saved with a Saved flight is:-

Options > Settings > Weather...Check the position of the slider and pull it back to "None"...Then reload the Saved flight and see if it is any different.

Edit...BTW Jim the CAT3 flight depends on a heavy overcast as well as the vis set at minimum, so removing the cloud will spoil it. The original saved flight should have a very thick layer of Stratus from 498 feet to 6500 feet 8 octas, as well as vis. to min.

Hi Peter

No difference. It seems to be related to the airport buildings. They can be seen through the mist shroud. Once airborne the phenomenon disappears.

Hi peter

No change. I even moved the cloud base to zero feet to see, some cloud formation is visible through the mist looking up - blue sky in fact!

I get a better effect with only setting the visibility and clearing clouds.
