beaufighter download

I am running Wondows Vista. B
No way can I follow the download instructions (copy main file directly to FSX). Wwhen I isolate the aircraft file, I get partial skins sometimes, no color except the cockpit). Any new experience. Username I FOULED UP. Should be Earl Oh, well.\

Hi Earl,

I don't use Vista, so I don't know. I suspect it's something to do with admin rights.
Hopefully someone with Vista experience will be able to help.

I'm not really sure I follow what your saying. Running Vista here without problems. Have you used Vista for a while or are you new to it? The reason I ask is the the program files directory on the C drive when running Vista is protected.

Have you actually managed to copy the files from the zip into your FSX folders? *:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X

I'll try to clarify. Vista seems to accept the unzipped folder into FSX, but nothing makes it into simobjects aircraft. When I take the folder apart and copy beaufighter into simobjects aircraft, I get no color (except in the cockpit), and in some orientations the plane loses some of its skins (looks pretty strange).

So you do see the aircraft in FSX, but for some reason it's not displaying correctly, is that correct?

If you have an older video card, or one with not a lot of memory, that may be the problem. The Beaufighter uses a lot of 2048x2048 texures, which can strain some systems. I've made a set of 1024x1024 textures which you could try, see if that helps.

Save the index page (not the homepage) to your browser once you're signed in (having ticked the remember me bit at the bottom of the page) and you should be able to get straight in ;-) The only exception will be if Ben has updated the forum software towit we all have to login again when that happens
