Jags etc on M-ways

The Paris was a 2 seater

in someplaces in the states the roads are the normal Runway.

when my uncle flew, he took me on a bussness trip down to southern florida in his 182 around 1980-82 I think

the guy he met didn't give him an airport to land at, but told him to "just land on state road bla bla west of the intersection of us bla bla"

when we landed (road signs look close when comeing in at 60 knots) we just left his plane in a dirt lot on the side of the road.

as we were driving we saw several houses with planes siting in there front yard like you would see pick up trucks normaly. :o

I've not heard the grass takeoff mentioned before!

A bit like the 'operating Harriers from car showrooms' - never seen an image of that - although as Skippy points out, in time of need I don't think that it would take too long to rip down a few lampposts and barriers....

There is a photo about of a Jag doing a very low overshoot over the grass at Old Warden. There was also a time when a Harrier occupied hangar 1 at Old Warden, although admittedly that was for running repairs after a show appearance.

As for the motorway Jag, it was on the M55 between Preston and Blackpool, I believe about here.

I Drive up and down the M55 each day to work and back, and yet never knew that a Jaguar had landed on it. Makes a lot of sense since its near Warton and has to be one of the straighest motorways I've ever driven on.

Would certainly make my journey to work more interesting!
