EDIT..
I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place here. I intended getting the 'updates' discs so have just loaded v1 onto a fresh install of FSX. However.. my fresh FS9 install doesn't have VFRPhoto on it yet as I dreaded the possible problems of loading it onto a new system (eg.. bios warnings e t c) and everything that goes with it.. bridge patches.. coastline patches.. inline water patches  Has anyone tried the FS9 ver install off the GenX v2 discs yet and if so.. does it have all the nice bits that came as freebies later on??
I'm willing to uninstall GenX v1 and go for the v2 full version if the FS9 install is fully patched.. if you see what I mean If the FS9 version is as it came out of the box and needs all of the subsequent patches to get it up to scratch.. it hardly seems worth buying the full v2.. uninstalling v1.. installing v2 then installing VFRPhoto for FS9 only to spend a day patching the life out of it
Another question while I remember.. does the FS9 install include VFR Terrain too (which I also have)??
Someone please try it and put me out of my misery
ATB
And I STILL aint goin' over . I've invested a lot of my life, both financially and in time and effort into FS9 and despite how 'kick arse' good I'm told that FSX is.. I can't see it with my own eyes so I don't believe it. The terrain mesh is better and the sea is better but there's little else for me if anything. I'm currently running two brand new installs of each flavour and other than what I've mentioned above.. there really is no other difference.. oh, besides the fact the default FSX ground textures are worse!!!
See.. you tripped my 'AUTORANT' switch again
I'm obliged to show my face in FSX due to the kindness of others who wanted me in and I'll do just that but I still don't like it ;-)
ANYWAY.. someone out there try the FS9 install off GenX2 P L E A S E!!
You've not read this b1oody thread have you Tony! I don't HAVE the discs :brick:
The question is.. do I get the free upgrade discs for GenX OR.. buy the full v2 discs instead (which is the current offer). As the v2 discs have VFRPhoto included.. is this a fully patched version or the original thrown onto the dvd to take up some space??
Having just installed GenXv1.. I don't really want to uninstall it again but.. if the VFRPhoto for FS9 is the patched version.. then it'll be worth the effort. If it's not.. I'll get the free upgrade dvd's instead ;-)
I've not installed either yet but as per my post with the heads up about what the box says, according to that it has VFR Terrain. I'm not installing until I install a new HD which has been sitting in my study for a while now. I had same dilemma as you - get free disc or pay for the upgrade discs. I've got the V2 discs, I don't have to d/l any updates and back them up and then lose the back-ups plus I've got the bonus free FS9 sceneries. I can probably sell my FS9 photo scenery discs and they'll pay for the V2 upgrades.
I went over to Horizon just to do the necessary and it tells me my email address isn't on their database (which is odd as it's the same one they sent the upgrade info to) so I'm stuck. I tried registering the v1's (knowing that I'd already done so) and it told me they were already registered.. please review!! :brick:
So.. I've asked for confirmation of my password (just in case it's wrong but I doubt it as it's the same one I use for everything!!) and I've also emailed Horizon explaining the situation. We'll see what happens
