Re: Next From Skysim!
FS9 is easy to get on ebay though
It is one thing if any developer decides to make it for 9 and X but I wish people would stop expecting/demanding it be for both
Why not make it for 20202,2000 and FS.98 just to be sure???
Anything that is a proper FS.X model will not be for anything else and that's that.
I don't see the point in undoing any wrongs for the next SIm as now the changes are being made and are known (the biggest beef in the early days) then any 'corrections' will break everything again.
It is settling down and all is well as long as folk stop expecting everything to run in both
I short if it says it does then fair enough, if made for just one then accept that as that has been the developers choice and he wants to move on
There are stirring saying that there is not enough add ons for FS.X availiable
Perhaps in part that is due to developers wasting time trying to make stuff for both.
If they do make it for both then it will not have all the features that make FS.X different, then the complaints come in that FS.X offers nothing new.
If you don't have the right hardware stick to 9 and that's fine and is still improving, but there will be an increasing amount of things that will not run
This is what moving on is about

Re: Next From Skysim!
I have to disagree there Garry, the long take-up time plus the delay in SP2 (with it's incompatabilities) have caused this. The scenery guys have been hit hardest, it was near on impossible to get good (FR usable) scenery for almost a year! The UK2000 release has helped as far as Brits are concerned. I hated using FSX because the default scenery (outside major US and world capitals) was so poor (something that it inherited from FS9) and because of the dreaded desertification of southern Europe, which I suppose is still there. There are stirring saying that there is not enough add ons for FS.X availiable

If someone could re-install FSX for me (all attempts now say my FSX CD's are not correct), I would have it back. I ran a very early beta Hawk last year, and it worked well. However, now I am stuck with FS9 (until I get a new system or re-install Windows), but that is something I can live with for a while.

Hi Trev
there is also a lot of rubbish information available as i have everything i had in FS9 here in FSX SP2.
the problem Garry Summons was having was not scenery desigtn as such.
it was the round earth/Ground poly problem that ACES kept changing in every patch.
Basically every time GS got moving again ACES pulled the Rug and changed the format until we where left mist a more broken sstem that we had in SP1 for ground polys.
Almost all the UK airfields have had new flattens made by the guys over on Visualflight.
there are more people not using FSX because people say it's crap than people that have installed it then patched it and given it a couple of weeks to settle.
80% of the Haters are those that tried the first demo and tried to run all sliders maxxed.
FSX is more detailed at 30% sliders than FS9 at 100% sliders by default.
Framerate is half of FS9 but behaves like it's double that of FS9.
there is no point in making complicated FS9 models as they will run like a slideshow on FS9 as it cannot handle the polys or complexity.
Subject closed!
Regards
Rick

No Hawk for me then. I am firmly FS9 and not because of hardware.
Simply because FS9 can do things I need that FSX cannot....plus there are many reasons why I do not like FSX Coolio
An accurate model is an accurate model...it has nothing to do with whether one uses FS9 or FSX.
....and not to take anything away from your fantastic model I'm pretty sure I could paint a more realistic paint in FS9 than anything you will see in FSX.
I'm not having a go Rick, you do whatever you feel is best.

Re: Next From Skysim!
Hi Ed
can you elaborate on why you can paint better in FS9 as i don't find that to be the case.
(not having a go just wonder what you mean by that bit) ;-)
In the last week i have been attacked by quite a few FS people some of which i will never talk to or use ever again for testing.
to be honest i am disheartened by the complete lack of support lately.
I may even give up and stop developing as it's no longer fun due to this FS9 is better thing.
I obviously don't agree but it makes it far too hard for me to continue.
I am not going to make a half way model like many payware developers are doing as it makes FSX look like even more of a waste of time that the Nay Sayers already have.
Been attacked via E mail too over no FS9 model and that makes me even more determined to never go near FS9 ever again.
it used to be fun but it's become too political as nothing i do is right according to the FS community. :brick:
I totally give up trying to please everybody as it will never work .

Re: Next From Skysim!
Rick im fully behind you with just an FSX model! I dont see why you should spend more time on ripping/building another model for them to go say;
"Oh this doesnt look as good as the FSX one, its :@ i want my £££ back"
In my own opinion there is already a good FS9 Hawk, yes its old but still it does the job... Me personally hasnt touched FS9 for months now, just for the reason FSX looks and feel better... Not to mention theres one smexy Hawk and Vulcan sitting in my simobjects folder...

Hi Rick
We are supporting you :goodman:
The message just isn't getting through.but it's only a minority.
The rest sit quietly and patiently waiting
Why should you rework just to accomodate those that don't have the Sim it's made for
As for comment about painting FS.9 better than FS.X ..come on then Ed......show us
