Re: Alpha Tornado released!!!
Hi Viper, pretty sure that will be the FSX default effect. I don't think its clever enough to work out that the wing position has changed.
Ben.

I don't think I've seen one model with sweeping wings that doesn't suffer from this. As you say Ben.. the fx is defined by the cfg entry and I doubt you can have more than one entry for the vorticees as to do so would probably have you seeing 3 streams off either side when the gauge was active.. one for each sweep position

Hi guys...
Thankx for the info. Don't know much about cfg files but seeing your answers I guess we just have to live with it...
Grtz.

Re: Alpha Tornado released!!!
Hi Viper
Yeh.. it's gotta be a difficult one to call given the restrictions imposed by Flightsim. Where are you more likely to get a 'vorticees' situation?? Well, I suppose you will get vorticees when the conditions are right regardless of wingsweep.. perhaps moreso at the first two positions and less so fully swept where it could be argued you're more likely to see condensation above the swept wings. Does anyone know if it has this effect btw??
The effect must be either very difficult (vorticees for all 3 positions) or near impossible as surely someone would have twigged how to do it by now  There's a task for some brainy chap with a few minutes to spare!

Hi Dave
As far as the FSX sdk goes you can attatch the fx files same way as the nav lights using the attachpt_***.fx
but i have not tried wingtip trails yet & i don't know if it will override the default trails as it may look odd with both active
(BTW just stating that the trails should be attatchable to the swing wings)
I am not having a go at Alphasim as i know what an uphill climb all this FSX SP2A SDK stuff is
to me the Shots look superb
If the Hawk looks as good as that i will be happy & hopefully you lot too
Regards
Rick

Re: Alpha Tornado released!!!
Tks for that Rick
I'd have hoped FSX would've been able to accommodate something 'useful' like this. Perhaps Dano will give it a shot at some point in the future ;-)

Re: Alpha Tornado released!!!
Ker-boing!! :o

Damn, damn and damn!! I cracked
Briefly..(FS9)
It does seem to stall quite easily but it's easily recovered.
Panel.. I like it ;-)
VC.. not that keen but I rarely am.
Vorticees.. visible on fully open and fully swept.. accurately placed too
Vapour compression.. not present
Visual model.. I'm no F3 expert but this baby looks simply stunning. Beautifully textured
While I fully understand the time and effort that goes into making FSX native models is lost on any backward engineered FS9 version.. the simple fact remains that it is worthwhile to do it as far as the end user is concerned. I'd have not bought this if it were purely FSX so has all that hard work been wasted..?? NO!! Hat's off to Alpha for continuing to support both sims
I don't want to over or underestimate the Alpha F3. I'm sure it has it's problems (though I've yet to find any) but put in it's most basic terms.. this is one of if not THE best Alpha model I've bought and all this wrapped up very nicely for FS9 ;-)
You can go and argue amongst yourselves but anyone with a heart will find the Alpha F3 difficult to resist

I've noticed that it stalls a lot more readily when you're at a fuel load of 100%. Take it down to 50% and it's a whole lot more manageable.
The model is indeed top notch, and the textures are even better. Can't beat a nice dirty/weathered airframe, especially when it's done so well!

Glad you liked the Tornado by the way, your review brought a smile to my face. I'm sure Dan will enjoy reading your feedback when he gets back from blighty as well. :flying:

Re: Alpha Tornado released!!!
Guys, remember to set your fuel loads before you fly. It is in the manual but if you're anything like me you never read them, at my request the boys at Alpha kindly set up the .cfg so you can set your fuel properly depending on which size drop tank you're using. The larger tanks are listed as External1/External2 and contain 2250l, the smaller ones are listed as LeftAux and RightAux and contain 1500l, so obviously if you're flying with the clean models remove all four fuel tanks from the fuel and payload editor and you'll find she's a lot nippier with regards to handling. If you aren't removing at least a pair of tanks from the fuel/payload editor then you're too heavy and flying with too much fuel.
