The cockpit area looks very different on that one Tony

Have you checked the MDL file date and other dates to confirm??

There were two versions of this Alpha model. The original, and an updated one which was released in(2006?)

Definitely different then. Did you download the newer one from Alpha's web site? I need to track this down. The good news is that it seems like the old tex maps are not significantly different in terms of alignment.

You keep going at it Tony, it looks like you are very close to completion.

Speaking of Valiant models, I found a B.2 pathfinder model online last year but it did not work properly in FS9 (u/c was all messed up) - does anyone know of a fix or FS9 dedicated model out there? It'd be lovely to do the 'black bomber'.

I got the old one....dated 2004.......from somewhere....Can't remember..........!

The "Newer one" had the texture mapping problem.... :dunno:

Very happy with the older mapping but the pit looks wrong....?

Going to try and load my textures on the newer model and see what happens.... :cpu:

Tony

Edit......On checking.....the one on AlphaSim is the older model.......So where did i get the newer model..... :dunno:

Here's what I think the case is: The Alphasim one has the better cockpit but is not mapped for tailplane camo, the latter one with the correct mapping is the so-called Mike Stone Valiant, which seems to be a modded AS one. I could be wrong, and it is total new build, maybe someone can clarify. I definitely think the old AS one is the most accurate of them all, including Ito's one.

So for purposes of camo painting, it'd have to be the Mike Stone one.

Tony

When I mentioned the Mike Stone one the other day and said about the cockpit that one you painted was the one I was thinking of

I was surprised when it was said to be the Alphasim which I think it's not

Big nose and small cockpit are typical traits of his models.

That second one shown there is the far more accurate by a long way.

Nope......totally different model and layout......impossible to work on..... :-(

I know Garry......but we could not wrap Camo round the Alphasim version.....and what appears to be Mike Stones version is listed as an Alphasim model....which it isn't.... :dunno:

I do not believe that Mike Stone would have modified the Alphasim one. His was a new model.

The Alphasim model seems to have the following texture maps:
Valiant_01.bmp
Valiant_02.bmp only one tailplane map (top and bottom the same)
Valiant_03.bmp top and bottom of one wing
Valiant_04.bmp top and bottom of other wing
Valiant_CHd.bmp
Valiant_CTRd.bmp
Valiant_Pnl.bmp
Val_antiglare.bmp
Val_door.bmp
Val_doorway int.bmp
Val_spine.bmp
Val_window.bmp

Mike Stone's model has the following texture maps:
fuslg_l.bmp
fuslg_t.bmp
lwingbot_l.bmp
lwingbot_t.bmp
lwingtop_l.bmp
lwingtop_t.bmp
rwingbot_l.bmp
rwingbot_t.bmp
rwingtop_l.bmp
rwingtop_t.bmp
stab_l.bmp
stab_t.bmp this has both the upper and lower parts as separate items

Quite different.

At Simviation there are versions with modifications bu Bob Chicolo - for the Alphasim Valiant he has merged the Mike Stone panel - is this the source of confusion?

And UKMil have a camo AS Valiant but the camo goes under the tailplane - so I guess you are working with Mike Stone's model since it allows camo on top, white underneath.
