After wasting 2 hours because Avsim won't accept zip files produced on different machines I've given up on them. Leif I'll start sending you files for your site. It'll keep things simpler for updating in the future with paints only to your site, although I see Flightsim.com has uploaded all the repaints. I don't mind in principle but if I every want to replace/revise any of the files (which I have already done here where I've found errors) you can't keep tabs on who's got what.

Also I notice there's an "HS748" panel on Avsim today; looks like he's just used other folks' gauges.

Cheers

I doubt very much Flightsim...com has uploaded the paints

Someone else would have done that thinking they are being helpful

You could always email Nels and ask him to remove which he will do straight away.

Has anyone ever found a photo of 5H-WDL?

Belonged to Williamson Diamonds and seems to be one of the elusive ones.

Ian,

There's a black & white photo in Harry Holmes's book Avro 748. It's a simple livery, two stripes running along the fuselage and then up the fin, with the company logo on the tail. Can't find the old Williamson Diamonds Ltd logo on the net (they're part of De Beers now) as that should give us the stripe colour.

IIRC (I expect Jon will add something if I'm wrong) Andy Janes was owner and 'Boss' of Emerald (which was previously known as Janes Aviation) before taking a back seat to Mick O'Brien

Thanks for the info - I saw that one at Nairobi on 14 August 1976 and have never seen a photo of it - also explains why it never featured as a repaint.

I have a photo of an EAA DC-9 from that visit but not the 748 :doho: Maybe it was too far away for a photo.

Pete,

Yeah I think he started out with the Heralds and after the aircraft owner pulled the aeroplanes (allegedly ?!) the original company was shut down. Thanks for the heads-up on the website, I heard they just got their AOC. For a laugh did a rough paint of that scheme to see what it would look like. I guess nothing's been repainted yet or it would be splashed all over the website.

Begs the question from an expert - is there any way of putting text on the nacelles which doesn't involve having to put the text on both sides of each cowl to show on the outer side of the two engines ?

Cheers

Hmmmmm

I wonder if that's really practical to put the name on the engines in real life..hard to keep in good order.

Pointless as well............remains to be seen if one gets painted like that.
