Vanguard U/S

Post by Scorpius »

Currently sat at Aldergrove, have taken fuel from Flynet, inter engine cocks open, boost pumps 1 + 4 off, but she will only start one engine.

Have tried rapid start, Cntrl E, and manual starts to no avail. No random faults selected. If I end the flight and select another aircraft with engines running then go back to the Vanguard all engines run down. Thereafter can sometimes start one up again.

Any ideas please?

Cabin crew reports restlessness!

Hi Neville,

Very odd. Does loading the VC9 with full fuel before loading into the sim still shut down the engines? If so then something isn't right with your switches etc and you'll have to work through the checklist to see what's not set right.

Regards

Just opened up FS again, (it was only minimised) when I pressed Ctrl E the only running engine ran down. Had this problem yesterday but by perseverance got them all started. I will try it without the flynet running to see if it is cured but I am going to have to go work soon, technically speaking this means I have missed my slot.

Closing Flynet has cured the starting problem so I will delete it and reload with a new copy from the flynet site.

Interestingly, got all 4 started with rapid start but the audio was lagging the instruments by something like 40 seconds!

Scorpius..

You'll probably find that it's not the sound lagging behind.. more that the start sounds are quite quiet when compared to the full idle. I can barely hear them unless I have the sound turned up ;-)

Still no joy with the Vanguard despite reloading both the flynet client and the VA Vanguard packs.

Will now run scandisk to see if there is a disk problem.

Scorpius..

Are you trying to start from cold or is it that the engines are cutting after taking fuel.. I'm not quite sure?? If you're trying to start from cold.. make sure that ALL the fuel start switches are to 'START'.. not just the one for the engine you're trying to start and leave them that way until all 4 are running and stable. You can bypass the start proceedure slightly by clicking all HP cocks to OPEN rather than have them all shut or.. have them all fully open.

If they're cutting when you take fuel (this will always be 1 and 4) it's the inter-engine cocks/boost pump switches.

Are you fuelling in 'Standard' mode??

Hi Dave,

It suddenly dawned on me that Norton Anti Virus may be responsible, so I switched it off, loaded FS9 then Flynet client and had no problems whatsoever!

Thanks to everyone for your help on this one and a salutory lesson for my flying for the future.

Ta!
