Playing Streaming Videos...

Post by petermcleland »

Some people have reported difficulties playing my small streaming videos...The principle fault they report is failure to stream (they keep buffering on and off, rather than play continuously). A Canadian friend has pointed out a good workaround for this fault...You just RIGHT click on the URL and select "Save Target As" and then Save it to your Desktop. This puts an icon on your desktop and clicking that will play the video continuously. You can always delete it from there when you have finished with it.

Just for TODAY ONLY here is one that you should not attempt to Stream as its file size is half a Gigobyte...It is a high resolution version and Windows Media Player will automatically play it in its biggest Window...It also looks great in Full Screen Mode. I have downloaded it to my desktop, using the above mentioned procedure and I use it in Repeat mode as a screensaver. Broadband only please and the download takes 25 minutes:-

For the rest of today only as I will remove it from my server tomorrow...I need the space!! :flying:

Beautiful video, Peter! The scenery is fantastic and such an atmospheric time of day too. I would be very amiss if I didn't mention the skill of the pilot - those near ground level rolls over the runway had my heart pumping a bit. Far more guts than I would have, far more skill as.

Only took 16 minutes to download, including the five minutes to copy from the internet "temp" directory to my save directory. And to think I lived with dial-up for years and years before getting Verizon Fios.

Thanks Nigel,

Wow! 16 minutes...That makes your Broadband nearly twice as fast as mine :o ...Yes, I just could not go back to dial-up.

Glad you enjoyed it...so much nicer with the large picture :flying:

Hi Joe,

Drop me a line about your progress with the Recordings and the Cruise Ship Traffic :)

Your practice route is the Red Recording.

Joe and Jonesey thanks for downloading the full video...What download times did you get?

I've asked for more space on the server for this video lark...They gobble up a lot more than screenshots :flying:

I like the little gimmick with the scarf fluttering in the wind!...

Oh, and by the way, nice piece of flying too.

My son just saw it and said: "Who is that?"
"That's a real pilot called Peter, his very good"
"Do you think he'll crash?"
"No, I'm pretty certain that he wont!"
"His flying very low!" my daughter said very knowingly.
"Yes, and he also likes flying up-side down"
"Really?"
...
moments of silence in awe...
...
My son: "Can he do that with a Jumbo?"
"Yes of course he can"
"Can you do that?" he asked....
"...erm...... no.... :$ " was my reply.....

Very nice surroundings you have to fly in there Peter. Beautiful landscape and atmosphere....

Oh... almost forgot.... 25-30 minutes download...
Best Rgds

Thanks Dan...I'm relieved to hear that your download time is the same as mine :worried: ...I'm with BT Internet and I guess they are not the quickest but I find them reliable.

Interesting, the children's reaction...I bet the usual small sized streaming video picture would not have caught their eye :flying:

Yes, the fluttering scarf is great...I find myself drawn to watching its variations with airspeed etc...I think in some way, it is linked to the graphic of the rotating propeller

Hi Peter,

I had a go at downloading it myself this morning but aborted after it reported 1hr35 to come down (88Kb/sec) I'm with BTinternet too but doubt that had anything in particular to do with the slow download speed

Never mind ;-)
