I remember you showing us some pics of the BMW, Peter, but I have to agree that the K2 ambulance would have been my first choice too. Unfortunately the link seems to be dead at the moment :-( But I'll keep trying - it's even more totally crazy than that little Pajero

I've got Traffic Tools which I have learnt how to use for decompiling and compiling AI flight plans, but I can't find an Explorer function. Where should I be looking?

Ian,

I think you are talking about Ttools, which is a different thing...You can get TrafficToolbox from here:-

and the readme explains it :flying:

Peter,

Thank you so much for making that program available to me and for writing the readme. What a wonderful program! Having only recently got into AI, I wasn't aware of how much there is to it. I've been following some of the local AI traffic on descent and approach and I'm amazed at the details. They behave as though they were being flown manually with speedbrakes, incremental flaps, thrust reversers and everything. And even the a/c that I've put into a simple flight plan myself are doing all that - on just a line or two of text. Amazing!

I do run FS9 in full screen mode as it gives a much better display, but I only use one monitor (I use a laptop) so I'm used to opening and closing it (alt + enter)to access other programs. Perhaps I should consider following your example and attaching a second monitor as I can see the convenience. I've got one in the loft so when I get round to it ...

Thanks again for sharing your expertise and making all this stuff available. It really is appreciated. Thank you.

Ian

Ian,

Sorry, I somehow missed your reply...I'm very pleased that you have discovered the joys of TrafficTools > Explorer...I have made several replies to your PM and answered your questions about Mobile Tower :flying:

Ian..

If Hama's link remains dead.. give me a shout and I'll dig the K2 out for you ;-) I find the BMW a bit swish for daily use but the K2 and Stalwart do just nicely

Thanks for the replies! Peter - I'm succesfully running Explorer after following all your advice and tips. What a wonderful way of enjoying AI traffic. Here's a snapshot of my set-up. My user aircraft is a 707 sitting on the ramp at Sydney. The table on the monitor is a list of all the AI traffic in the area with full details of what they are doing, where they are going and what time they will arrive. I have selected a Virgin Blue flight en route across Australia and am watching it on the laptop. I can return to my own cockpit simply by pressing the S key.

And thank you, Dave, for the ambulance. I'm sure I'll find someway of incorporating it into a totally inappropriate screenie sometime soon!

Very nice Ian,

A couple of things...When you are in a busy area with a LOT of Traffic, after you have scrolled to select View on your target, CLOSE the Explorer window...You will see that keeping a LONG list of Traffic updated in Explorer makes your FS9 run a bit jerky. When you close the Explorer window, you will see that FS immediately goes smooth. To change target, just call the TrafficTools > Explorer again.

The other thing I have just sent you a PM about :flying:
