Yes she's been up for a few years now and when they found her they also found Donald Campbell as well.

Er... I don't think so, John. Sir Malcolm has been safely buried in a cemetery at Chislehurst, Kent for the past 60 years. Presumably, you mean they found the body of his son, Donald Campbell?

Thank you so much for posting that - As I said I was totally unaware of the restoration project or even of the recovery fo K7 and DCs body - reading the diaries there - gives you alot of respect for the mixed gas deep divers who found him
my apologies to the Non Brits amongst us - but I grew up with photos and drawings and even later cutaways of both Sir
Malcolms and Donalds Bluebirds , both land and water , the pride they gave still lives on today - They were giantsboth

Personally, I've always seen the rivalry for both the land and water records to be more of a friendly rivalry than a real competition and have always held both of the Campbells in the highest esteem. I've always felt that Donald made a mistake most guys would (and some have) with respect to that confirming pass and taking it too quickly or under less than perfect conditions. I remember one record land car (I believe it was the Spirit of America) when they almost went early because they were running short on time to make the return run but waited and found out later that they probably would have crashed had they tried sooner because during a non-record run they ran the second trip after a shorter turn-around and the afterburner can overheated and failed mid-run, nearly wrecking the car.

Such is the fickle nature of record attemps- they're so close to the edge that even a few minutes can make the difference and I have ultimate respect for those who tread that edge and risk it all for nothing more than their name in a book and a lot of pride.
