I have used Freds' fantastic knowledge on several occasions....He was working at Westlands before the war and learnt to fly in a Widgeon (Fixed wing)... I think he is part time these days as Westlands' Archivist on Tuesday and Thursdays only I think. This chap is very approachable and if there is no reply from his office he leaves his home telephone number.....amazing, the reason being is that he is like an old Labrador, very keen and eager to help in whatever capacity he can. His memory is absolutely amazing...a thoroughly decent chap....not enough of them left these days.
