RNZAF Museum - The Restoration Hangar

Post by PeteP »

Just a glimpse of some of the restoration work going on at Wigram

A fascinating hybrid - built originally as an Oxford then converted to a Consul, "KR" is being completely re-built as an Oxford again.

This Kittyhawk is actually a P40F of the USAAF which crashed in 1942 but is being re-built as a P40E used by the RNZAF. Apparently, the Allison engine is brand new and unused!

Also in the hangar is - would you believe - a Vickers Wildebeest but it's totally unrecognisable as such at the moment.
