Yeah, thanks to my insomnia I was up reading when I felt it. Initially I thought something had dropped on the floor near me and then realised it hadn't! Thought it might be a tremor but wasn't sure until I heard the news.
And to think I wasted my time going to Tokyo and LA and never felt a thing!
I heard about this on the news over here....I bet it shook a few people up.
Before I emigrated I lived in the N.Staffs area and we suffered regular earth tremors over a period of several years. The largest one happened at night and I woke up thinking someone was shaking the bed as I slept in it. When I switched on the light the lamp shade was actually still swinging back and forth. :o
The entire area is riddled with old and abandoned mine workings and they finally came to the conclusion that it was the old tunnels collapsing which in turn caused the tremors.
A few years after I moved over here I felt an earth tremor and co-workers refused to believe me when I told them what it was until it came on the news that there had been an earthquake in the USA about 300 miles from us.
