FSAviator

Post by ravilamir »

For those who know the Master FDE developer, FSAviator has made public his views on fsx and the whole msfs as a franchise on the Calclassic forum:
http://www.calclassic.com/cgi-bin/yabb/ ... rt=120#120

IMHO his word is final: I'll stick with FS9 until M$ comes up with something much better.

Have a good reading! There's a lot in there to digest! :)

Well.. he doesn't seem to be too keen on FSX does he  Each to their own I suppose ;-)

Wish his airfiles for the BN Islander and Trislander warranted the 'Master' title. Perhaps he was having an off day

I don't think his there's anything earth shattering in there. MS have already said there won't be backwards compatibility in FSXI, and for good reason, if they keep trying to build in backwards compatibility for getting on 20 years of development they won't have time to work on the rest of the sim. The lack of backwards compatibility in FSX has forced the hardcore sim community in to two camps, those who're sticking with FS9 so that the vast range of add-ons they have based on 20 years of development work and those who using FSX as a stepping stone to FSXI and the chance to start afresh without a lot of legacy issues such as air files or just aren't concerned with not being able to use several gigs worth of add-ons.
As for his comments regarding the merge with CFS, I seem to remember blowing engines up in CFS1 and 2 which would imply he just wasn't trying hard enough! And I managed to blow one of the Reno Mustangs up in FSX within about 30 seconds from mishandling the engine.
Me I love the carrier ops in FSX Acceleration and hope it gets developed further in FSXI. At the end of the day if you're happy with FS9 that's great, I just don't think you need to slag of FSX to justify your decision because there're a lot of people out there using it and enjoying it.

I can't see the problem where able to run both.

Just because a new 'anything' comes out that does not mean the old one is no good.

It is as good still as it ever was and still getting better.

That way you can enjoy the best of both worlds :)

Garry,

I see your point, however as the victim of a tragic hard drive crash at just the right/wrong time I couldn't be bothered reinstalling both sims. If it wasn't for that I'd still have FS2004 as well. But I still think FSAviator is full of himself!

Hi Guys

I have not found much of his past findings to be even near correct so don't panic.

i have a thing about people that like to name themseves like the "Stig" anyway. "Pretentious,................. Moi?"

maybe he's called Engelbert or something.

Flightsimming is full of self voted FDE gurus and i only know 2 that are good.
& neither of them are me :$

Regards
Rick

Although you do not yourself claim to be a FDE guru, I think you're bloody good anyway!
